Uncountable Nouns

This piece functions as a live sound and light work that relies on its environment and interconnected components to function. An induction coil is used to detect the real-time electromagnetic signals emanating from the neon, which is animated according to patterns of intonation found in nature. These audible signals are confined to a narrow beam using a parametric speaker, and can only be perceived when standing directly in front of the suspended neon sculpture.
Exhibited at The Contemporary Jewish Museum, San Francisco in “First Light: Rituals of Glass and Neon” Curated by She Bends.
